YMCA Adds New Programs

With a network of over 2,600 local YMCAs and deep community roots, the YMCA continues to innovate its program offerings to meet evolving member needs. In 2025 alone, the organization has rolled out new initiatives spanning youth development, child care expansion, competitive sports, and civic engagement—ensuring that individuals of all ages and backgrounds can find meaningful ways to learn, grow, and connect through the Y.

Youth Civic Engagement

Beyond child care and fitness, the YMCA is doubling down on youth civic engagement. In its third year of partnership with the MissionSquare Foundation, Y-USA is investing nearly $2.5 million to expand the YMCA Youth and Government® program into 18 states and D.C. This year’s effort aims to engage 500+ additional students from underrepresented communities and support over 6,000 participants nationwide—equipping tomorrow’s leaders with hands-on experience in democratic processes and advocacy

The Rise of Pickleball

The Y is celebrating the rise of pickleball by hosting its inaugural National Pickleball Tournament this November at the USOP National Pickleball Center in Naples, Florida. Open to ages 12 and up, division champions will earn automatic entry into the 2026 U.S. Open Pickleball Championships—bypassing the usual lottery. This marquee event not only spotlights a fast-growing, intergenerational sport but also reinforces the YMCA’s role as a catalyst for community connection through friendly competition.
